Corn Potage Snack

This  delightful snack came in my September Tokyo Treat box, and oh Lord they were good! I've never had corn potage before so I wasn't sure what to expect (but I think i'all have to make it now!) 

The snakes themselves were bigger than I expected, and had a texture simalar to a puffy cheeto. The taste was a wonderful mix of sweet and savory that actually tasted like corn and herbs! It was so yummy! I actually wish I had some more!

Samanco

I picked up this little guy at my local Asian Market. It's not Japanese (I'm pretty sure it's Korean) but it was so cute so I'm reviewing it anyway. 

It looks like Taiyaki, which is something I've unfortunately never had. It's a wafer outside with vanilla ice cream and red bean paste inside.

I thought this was absolutely delicious! The ice cream is simalar to a soft serve and is very sweet and the anko is subtle but you can still taste it. The wafer is nice and dosent overpower either flavor and it also does a really good job of keeping you clean while you snack. I honestly wish these came in packs so I could always have them! Check your local Asian Market for these because they are a must try!

Moko Moko Mokowash

I'm sure a bunch of you have seen the toilet candy that's become a well known diy kit (mostly for its weirdness) but now, get ready for...

Washing Machine Candy! It's called Moko Moko Mokowash and it's made by the same company that made the toilet candy. It comes with all the pieces to assemble your washing machine, candy drink powder and stickers

I got white which is nice as I wanted white or pink!

All assembled (I add the stickers after the candy is gone so I can wash it without worrying about the stickers coming off)

After its all assembled you just add the candy "soap" and water and mix it with the little gear on the side. Very easy and super fun! It foams up just like it would in a real one! 

Now as far as the candy...its gross ( ；´Д｀)

It tasted like dish soap with little sour bits. Watery and floral and nothing like Ramune （ ｉ _ ｉ ）

Still! I really enjoyed how fun this was and I would buy this (or any of its counterparts) just to have the little plastic household item. I'm trying to decide what to do with it! I may put a little plant in it! Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Takoyaki Throwback

Unfortunatly, I caught a cold so i haven't been able to taste anything new බ͓⌢බ͓. Buutttt I wanted to do a throwback post to the first time I tried Takoyaki

For anyone who doesn't know, takoyaki are savory snack made of a batter with a little piece of octopus inside and topped with mayonnaise, takoyaki sauce, and bonito flakes.

I got mine in London over the winter while i was studying abroad. There's a huge shop called the Japan Centre in the Piccadilly Circus area. The shop itself carries a wide range of Japanese foods, but outside they had vendors selling hot foods. 

I had gone into the shop while in the area and when I saw they had Takoyaki outside, I knew I had to get some. 

Honestly, i was a little nervous. Before this, I had never had octopus in anything. But, i figured what the hell. 

I'm really glad I tried it though because it was DELICIOUS!(☆▽☆) The octopus doesn't have a strong flavor and the batter is soft and tasty. It's very hard to describe as I've never tried anything like it!

If you get the opportunity to try, you absolutely should!

Mochi!

Back at home we had a grocery store I frequented that sold freshly made Mochi among other things. Now I've tried traditional Mochi (the kind filled with anko) a few times and while I don't dislike it, I can only eat so much anko in one go. So when I saw these and noticed that they were diffrent colours from traditional mochi I thought it might have diffrent fillings, so I picked some up.As expected, they had a diffrent filling! And each one had a diffrent flavor.

I started with green which was matcha. For me, matcha is hit or miss, so I was surprised when I actually liked it! It was sweet and creamy with the slight earthy taste that comes from matcha.

Next I tried orange which turned out to be mango. Mango! I really like mango. It tasted really authentic as well. I have no idea what the filling is made of but it tasted like a mango frosting. Very good!

Third I had pink which was strawberry. To me, strawberry is a flavor you can't go wrong with, and  I expected it to be my favorite. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Not to say it was bad, but it was too subtle in the strawberry flavor and ended up just tasting sweet. Still good, just not as good as it could have been.

Finally was chocolate! This was hands down the best. It was filled with what tasted like a thick chocolate pudding that was so yummy! I could eat a package of just these ones. 

I wound up really loving these. It was nice to be able to get the feel of mochi with a flavor other than anko and I would absolutely get them again.

Candysan Haul

Earlier this weekend my order from Candysan came in. For those of you who don't know, candysan is  a Japanese based company that specializes in Japanese snacks and gashapon. Everything on the site is priced incredibly low and they have a huge selection thats always changing. I highly suggest checking them out!

The package came in a huge box (which makes sense for how much i ordered(*´∀`*))
